Deb Goodrich is the cohost of Around Kansas TV Show and the Garvey Historian in Residence at the Fort Wallace Museum. She is the author or co-author of six books, including the Civil War in Kansas: Ten Years of Turmoil. She has appeared in dozens of documentaries including the Wrangler Award winning, The Road to Valhalla about the Kansas/Missouri Border War, and American Artist: George Caleb Bingham. Her newest documentary, Thof’s Dragon, has just been released. It dramatizes the 1860s in western Kansas and the discovery of a plesiosaur fossil by the Fort Wallace Surgeon, Theophilus Turner, and the Post Scout, Medicine Bill Comstock.

Deb serves on the board of the Santa Fe Trail Association and the Smoky Hill Trail Association and is past president of the Eastern Kansas Civil War Roundtable and the Kansas City Civil War Roundtable. She is the chair person for the 200th Anniversary of the Santa Fe Trail (2021).

Deb is a native Virginian and a graduate of Washburn University with a BA in history.

Deb has two daughters and five brilliant, beautiful grandchildren. She makes her home in Oakley, Kansas, with Dr. Jake Bauer, veterinarian and living historian. They have a bunch of cats, a bunch of horses, a few mules, and several wagons and a stagecoach.
