Civil War Blockade by John Nischwitz
December 7, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
“Civil War Blockade” by John Nischwitz
Our own John Nischwitz will present “The Blockade,” a summary of the planning, application, commanders, and ships used by President Lincoln’s administration to deny the Southern States access to foreign weapons and equipment as well as limiting their ability to finance the war by the overseas sale of their cash crops: cotton, tobacco and others. Some attention will be paid to the Southern defense strategy against the blockade and the raiders that drew strength away from the U. S effort at keeping the blockade tight.
