He has been interviewed by Life, People, USA Today online, New York Times, CNN, MSNBC and Newsweek.  He was part of The History Channel’s Civil War Documentary, “Blood and Glory: The Civil War in Color” and has had numerous online interviews, including CBS Sunday Morning.  He has recently written a series of Op Ed articles that have been published in Mississippi, Texas, Kentucky and Virginia.  He is directly quoted nationally about his great-great grandfather and the many issues confronting our country today.

He is engaged in the efforts to preserve the history of Jefferson Davis as an American Statesman and an important historic figure.  Bertram has traveled and toured numerous Civil War Battlefields, historical venues and Davis sites throughout our country.  His perspective is unique, in reference to his ancestor and the events surrounding the conflict.  As a story teller, he lectures and relates oral history on the Civil War, American History and Jefferson Davis.  These include speaking on River and Waterway Cruises, as well as various land tours.

He and his wife Carol own Vicksburg Old Town Tours.  They provide historical experiences for groups through the historic district of Vicksburg.  They include intimate conversations with the residents and owners of the residences on the tour.
